followed by a visit to IFAT 2016 29th May – 4th June 2016, Munich
"Water, Waste & Energy – Environmental and Supply Chain Management (WE-Chain II)"
we are pleased to conduct our second alumni seminar project
"Water, Waste & Energy – Environmental and Supply Chain Management (WE-Chain II)" in
preparation for the IFAT 2016 (www.ifat.de). IFAT is the World's Leading Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management,
The seminar gives the opportunity to bring together former students and visiting scientists of German universities coming from developing countries to exchange knowledge and experiences on current issues of environmental and supply chain management in the water, waste and energy sector.
The aim of this seminar project is not only to transfer water/energy/waste knowledge, but also offering the holistic sustainability approach and to provide an insight to interdisciplinary and integrated urban management. Therefore, motivated alumni from all concerning branches like engineers, biologist, chemist, agrarian and environmental scientist, medics, etc. will be addressed.
The overarching goal is a transition towards sustainable resource management in urban systems. As this is a very broad field, a seminar project with direct reference to the world-leading fair (IFAT) needs to focus on main topics as will be:
- Water resources management
- Water and wastewater treatment
- Waste removal and recycling
- Energy generation from waste
- Soil remediation
The alumni seminar is organized and hosted by the Centre for Water and Environmental Research (ZWU and by the Centre for Logistics and Traffic (ZLV, both University of Duisburg-Essen. It is offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in the framework of the program Alumni Special Projects (www.daad.de/alumni-special-projects).
